The Past 2 Weeks

It's been crazy the last few weeks. With preparing for girls camp, family reunions, camping, grandpa passing, being pregnant, car problems and the demands of a new job it seems like I haven't had any time to sit down and blog in a while. I fianlly can't do anything else because i'm stuck at home without a car. So let's start from the begining. Warning: I didn't take any pictures so this will be boring to read...so sorry.

Girls Camp:

Girls Camp was AMAZING! It was my first year being a camp assistant and let me tell you I can understand why most people don't like camping. You have to prepare for hours and hours before and then when you get to camp you can't even relax. You always have to be preparing for the next project, making sure things are in order and worrying about everyone else. Clayton and I LOVE camping because we can go at the drop of a hat and when we get to camp we don't have to worry about anything...just ourselves and relaxing. It's so so great. But now that I have experienced what all you people with kids have to go through to go camping I appreciate you SO much more!! Enough with the complaining, because girls camp was GREAT! We had tons of ward time and our girls became so much closer to the Lord and as a ward. We had 8 1st years! and 12 beehives!! It was alot of laughter and giggles...and screams when they found a bug or two in the tent :-) They are all great girls and everyone of them helped out SO SO much. We decided to go with a bee theme since our color was yellow and 90% of our girls were beehives. We had a bee jar that whenever they were caught "beeing" nice or helpful one of the other girls would write there name on a piece of paper and place it in the bee jar. We would pull a name out 4-5 times a day and for that time they were "Queen Bee". Which means they would get thier meal first or wouldn't have to do dishes or toilet duty or whatever we were doing at that time. The Queen Bee would also get to wear a very stylish bee hat... I wish I had a picture to show you!! It was a lot of fun and all the girls LOVED it. We had so many great activities and devotionals and we even got a new convert (she just turned 18) to come and share her conversion story and it was so touching! I think almost everyone was wiping away tears. We had an activity that the Young Woman's president did about "true beauty" and how our inner light is our true beauty. We made homeade candles (one dip at a time) to remind them to keep their light shining. It was alot of fun. We made super cute banglets that had a pendent that had this years scripture of "Be Strong" on one side and "Be Not Afraid" on the other! It was HARD work but it was very satisfying! The best part was when one of the new beehives gave me a hand written note saying how much she learned and how her testimony had grown because of this experience! And our girls all got together before our tuesday activity and baked cookies for us to show thier appreciation of our hard work!! I was so touched, I absolutely LOVE being in the young womens! We have the most amazing girls! Our ward won the award for being the most united and friendliest! Everyone of our girls showed friendship to eachother, I never heard a bad word about another girl. Even our girls that get homesick easily didn't feel it as much because everyone was so nice and friendly to eachother. I haven't been in a ward where there is so much love between the girls. Usually everyone has there "clicks" but eveyone is nice to everyone here. I know I sound like I'm in fairy land and i'm not saying the girls are perfect, but they are so accepting and they try hard to be good. All in all Girls Camp was TERRIFIC!

Family Reunion:

We had the Whitmer reunion the same weekend Girls camp was so I left early and went up to the reunion. There wasn't as many people as usual and the weather was cloudy and rainy. But it was still super fun. I got to see so many of the people I love. Because the weather was crapy we didn't do much outside this year. We played alot of games and had a fun time that way. I love my family and I love reunions.

Grandpa Morris Passed Away

Clayton's grandpa died after a long battle with many cancers. We got to see him the day before he left and it broke my heart to see him like that. I was laying in bed not being able to sleep after having to pee at 4 in the morning when I just pleaded to the lord to help him leave this world. He has always been such a strong man who never let anything get him down. I think he just needed an extra push. Later that morning we found out that he passed away in his sleep (around 4 or 5am)! Coincidence or not I like to think I helped him complete this part of his journey. He is such a great man just a month ago he was on the roof fixing a leak!! He is an amazing person who has taught us so so much. He is finally reunited with his sweetheart who left him more then 20 years ago and I know he is having a great time with her. We all knew it was coming to an end quickly the last few weeks and that helped everyone. We love and will always cherish you grandpa!

In other news. I love my new job! It's great, and I have amazing people to work with. It's the perfect job for me right now. Clayton also got a new job for another Electrical company. He likes his boss alot, but it's very stressful because he has to be on his "top game" all day everyday because he could be replaced with someone new in a heartbeat. He's amazing at what he does don't get me wrong but when 500 other electricians are all wanting the same job it makes things stressful. The heat is coming strong now... it's definatly summer. We had a beautiful spring with tons of water and cool weather and now the heat is finally settling in. I have been driving around Clayton's jeep while we figure out what to do with my car. I love the jeep but I hate having to fix something everytime we take it out willing. That leaves me without a vehicle at least 2 days a week. and means either walking or riding my bike to work in this heat. But hey you gotta do what you gotta do... right!

Thanks for reading my boring blog! It was mostly me rambling and not showing any pictures so if you made it this far you are AMAZING!!
